For this project, we travelled to Pozuelo to transform a sushi restaurant that wanted more than attractive decoration: it wanted an identity of its own. The aim was to blend the delicacy of Japanese food culture with the rebellious energy of street art.
The owners wanted the venue to feel fresh. They trusted us completely to reinterpret Japanese aesthetics through our own language: graffiti and lettering. The result is a space where design becomes part of the menu.
The interventions: controlled chaos and narrative
We approached the space through two main murals that interact with one another, using vibrant colours on neutral backgrounds so as not to overwhelm the dining environment.
- The tree of tags — organic lettering: on the first wall, we broke away from structural rigidity with a large tree composed entirely of typography. Tags, icons such as bowls, chopsticks and hearts, and words including “RAMEN”, “KING” and “SPICY” overlap to form a lively canopy that spreads across the wall like an urban garden, bringing movement and visual rhythm.
- The urban geisha: for the second piece, we developed a female figure inspired by traditional Japanese imagery with a contemporary twist. The clean, detailed portrait is surrounded by controlled chaos: expressive marks and words in red and blue, including “SKY”, “KYO” and “SAKE”. The contrast between the serene face and the speed of the strokes adds character and a modern feel.
The result: an immersive visual experience
Both works change the perception of the space. They are more than drawings on a wall: they act as focal points that accompany diners without intruding on their meal.
- Brand identity: the venue has gone from being just another restaurant to having a bold, youthful, Instagram-friendly personality.
- Visual balance: graffiti's energy sits comfortably alongside the calm needed to enjoy a meal, showing that street art can also be elegant.
