Located in one of the capital's fashionable areas beside Madrid Río, Madre Mía restaurant needed an identity that shouted “party” from the first glance. The client wanted to break with convention and gave us complete freedom to turn the walls into a canvas for expression.
The result surrounds diners with an electric atmosphere, blending the venue's industrial aesthetic with the energy of spontaneous street art.
Vandal chic: energy on the walls
Working over the original exposed brick, previously painted grey to emphasise the colours, we developed a concept based on layering and visual rhythm:
- Spontaneous messages: we filled the space with phrases that invite people to have fun, including “Party”, “Good People” and “Sonríe si vas borrach@” — “Smile if you're drunk”. Fast, rough, expressive handwriting evokes street tagging and adds authenticity.
- Urban pop imagery: distorted smiley faces and stars recur throughout the mural, creating a pattern that unifies the space.
- Colour contrast: we used a limited but bold palette of deep reds and pure whites on a dark background. This makes the design readable in the venue's low lighting while energising the room.
The result: a space with its own voice
Its interior has helped Madre Mía stand out in a competitive neighbourhood. The mural is part of the experience:
- Ready for photographs: every corner, with cheeky phrases and a neon aesthetic, provides a backdrop for customers' pictures.
- Visual consistency: the graphic language extends throughout the restaurant, from the bar to the dining area, creating a strong, recognisable brand identity.
At Dale Color, we know a restaurant should offer a complete experience. If you want a bold personality for your venue, we will bring the colour.
