This project presented an unusual canvas: the back wall of a padel court. Originally a standard green wall, it was functional but lacked character. Our aim was to transform it completely, giving the space a strong, elegant, culturally inspired identity.
We chose a timeless classic: a large-scale reinterpretation of Guernica. The idea was to create a dialogue between sport and one of the most iconic works in art history.
The process: from green to art
The work required precision and careful planning to adapt the complexity of the original painting to an outdoor mural:
- Preparing the canvas: we covered the original green with high-quality white emulsion paint. This created an even, bright background, essential to the impact of the final contrast.
- Freehand drawing: using only black paint, we drew every figure, animal and line of tension. We adapted the original into a cleaner graphic style, designed to be read at a distance during a match. No intermediate greys: just pure black and white.
The result: a game with a view
The mural has changed the court's presence completely. It is now a space with character, as well as a place to play sport:
- Visual integration: the artwork fits naturally into its surroundings, improving the setting without distracting players.
- Graphic strength: the contrast with the court's red surface creates a striking photographic composition and a distinctive venue.
At Dale Color, we believe any wall, including one on a sports court, deserves to be a work of art. If you want your club or private court to stand out, let's talk.
